Glutton for punishment
Here is the cover for part two of the epic masterpiece, Teen Titans: Flaming Crapburger. Bill says our local comic shop sold out of part one. What the hell is wrong with people? I told him to let them keep the one they were holding for me. The Titans are off my list.
Here's what DC has to say about it-
I just don't understand. Someone please explain to me how Liefeld continues to get work and who is buying it. God help me if they ever put him on a Superman book. I don't know what I'll do; cry, I suppose.
Here's what DC has to say about it-
"Written by Gail Simone; Art and cover by Rob Liefeld The thrilling
conclusion of the 2-part story by Gail Simone (VILLAINS UNITED) and Rob Liefeld (New Mutants)! Kestrel, the mad dog of the Chaos Realm, paralyzes the Titans in a bid to gain power like he's never had before! DC Universe 32pg. Color $2.50 US On Sale September 21, 2005 "

Yes.
I can confirm that this is crap on a stick.
I actually held part one of this flaming crap burger in my hands and flipped through it.
If someone who claims to be your friend tries to get you to try it...kick them in the nuts and run for your life.
It is that bad.
yup. crap beyond crap.
Over on geoffjohns.com - the only intelligent and civil fansite/messageboard I've ever found - the overwhelming majority finds this to be a crap two-parter. - About 30% of those polled actually liked it - another 60 are split between didn't like it at only bought it to be a completist.
I knew I'd hate the art - thought I'd pick it up anyway just to 1) not have the gap and 2) give gail Simone a chance, as I'd heard she was impressing a lt of people with her work in Birds of Prey.
Nope.
Crap.
*sigh*
I'm not as big a TT fan as you are Shaggy, so I have no problem with just dropping this book all together. I bought it when it first started to see if it was good. I enjoyed it mostly, but sometimes one keeps buying a book out of habit. The insult of Liefeld's presence is enough to get me to break this habit. Now I can buy something else.
But, as I said before, I don't know what I'd do if he ever showed up on a Superman book. I'd want to get it 'cause I have that completest problem with Superman. But to contribute to a crime against art by actually purchasing a Leifeld book; to reward DC for hireing him by giving them my money; why it would be downright sinful.
Oh dear, I'm sorry to inform you, Shaggy, that you have commited a grave sin by buying that book. Good thing for you that you're not a Catholic. You'd have to go to confession. "Forgive me, Father, for I have sinned. I bought a Rob Liefeld comic." "GASP! That'll cost you 1000 Hail Marys and a pilgramige to the Holy Land. Go with God, my son."
Of course I could just steal it, but that would only create another problem.
By the way, Shaggy. I posted a protest about this book over at the DC Comics message board. It is neither intellegent nor civil over there.
Of course we're a little harsh over here, but it's all in good fun.
yeah - DC boards bad - I'm just have an aversion to "Oh yeah!?! well you're a fag/asshole/dipshit school of debate - only place i've seen worse is the View Askew boards.
see there's your nightmare - Kevin "can't keep shedule with a monthly" Smith writing and Rob Liefield drawing.
THAT'S your Death of Superman scenarion, with no number of clones, kryptonian avatars or guys in armor brining him back.
nagga nooch!
oh - and how is having read and having to look at this thing not it's own pennance?
You're right. In this case the sin is it's own punishment.
Re: Gail Simone.
As you know, I didn't read TT#27 so I can't comment on the script. But I have heard several complaints about it. I just wanted to let you know that I quite like the work she's doing in Villians United. I think she's probably normally a good writer. Maybe she just doesn't know the characters well enough. These two issues seem to have been a bit of a rush job. Anyway, don't write her off for god just because of this.
Leifeld on the other hand has consistantly sucked throughout his career. I have no hope that he will ever get better.
