Dungeons & Dragons 2: Electric Boogaloo!

I saw Dungeons & Dragons II: Wrath of the Dragon God on the SciFi channel this weekend. I don't think this was originally intended to be a direct to cable movie, but I'm glad I didn't pay money for it. It was certainly more D&D than the first one. Whether or not that a good thing depends on how much you like D&D. It's very clear what class each character belongs to. Most of them are even referred to by their class name a few times. There was one character that I wasn't' sure if he was meant to be a fighter or a paladin, but who cares really? The plot itself seems right out of a D&D module and plenty of recognizable D&D monsters show up. I wonder if they used a random encounter table while writing the script.

Unlike the first movie, this one took itself way too seriously, but it wasn't good enough to warrant such seriousness.

Only one actor from the original returned.

The effects were decent, but I'm afraid I can only give Dungeons & Dragons II: Wrath of the Dragon God two out of five Fanboy fans.

What's up with Sci-Fi channel that they can't seem to come up with a really good made-for-tv movie?

Dungeons and Dragons was a made for cable movie.

I have no idea or interest in what this is.

The first one (which I saw against my will) was bad enough that I will forever avoid movies with the words Dungeons or Dragons or any combination.

It was that bad.

From me this movie, sight unseen, gets the finger.

Screw you TSR!

BILL! PLEASE REMOVE TEN POINTS FROM YOUR GEEK QUOTIENT, IMEDIATELY, AND REPORT TO THE ADMINISTRATOR FOR DICIPLINARY ACTION! TSR died years ago. D&D is published by Wizards of the Coast now. You should know that. I don't even play D&D anymore and I know that.

D&D2 was NOT originally meAnt to be direct to cable. It was supposed to be direct to video. I know the producers of the first movie had hopes of a theatrical sequel, but we all know how well the fist one did. I'm not sure if they were involved in this one or not. Anyway SciFi Channel bought the broadcast rights, cut about 15 minutes and all the swearing, and slapped "SciFi Pictures Original" on it.

Shaggy- That's why SciFi channel can't come up with a decent TV movie. They don't even try. They just pick up whatever crap someone else makes but can't get put in theaters and then put the SciFi name on it, Man-Thing for example.

I knew that WOTC bought TSR. I just couldn't be troubled to say anything about it. But they didn't invent D&D.

Oh well...

Screw you Wizards of the Coast!

And screw you still TSR!

For coming up with Dungeons and Dragons.
